About Caio Facó

Caio Facó is an internationally recognized composer, recipient of numerous awards and commissions, whose catalog of works ranges from solo to large orchestral music. He has orchestral works performed by Minas Gerais Philharmonic Orchestra and Orquestra Sinfônica do Teatro Nacional Claudio Santoro, and chamber pieces premiered by Mivos Quartet (USA) and International Contemporary Ensemble (USA). Facó received awards from several composition contests, such as the International Composers Competition (held by the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa), the Biennial Festival of Brazilian Contemporary Music and, for three consecutive years, prizewinner of the Festival Tinta Fresca (the most important composition competition in Brazil). He worked with Chamber Orchestra of Valdivia (Chile) as an Associate Composer, and with Ensemble MPMP (Portugal) as a Composer in Residence. He also received a commission from the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra Foundation and wrote Cangaceiros e Fanáticos, for string quartet, premiered by the OSESP String Quartet. Facó also works as a Researcher (with a CNPq scholarship) and Professor of Composition. Currently, he is finishing his Ph.D. in Musical Composition at The Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul.
